Friday Flash

The first Friday Flash podcast winner!

It’s with excited, wriggling toes that I announce the first ever winner of my Friday Flash podcast prize draw.

Congratulations to Katherine Nabity and her wonderful flash “Wicked Witch For Hire” – the recording is below.

It was great fun – and great experience. It felt good to give something back to this lovely community and have the opportunity to record someone else’s work.

In fact, I loved it so much I’m going to do this every month. Hell, I’d do it every week if I had more time! For now, it will be monthly, and I’ll be reminding every one towards the end of June to pick their favourite flash of the month to enter into the draw.

As I found this so enjoyable, I’ve decided it’s time to launch my professional voice services to fellow flash and short story writers. The details are on the voice page, so if you can’t wait until the end of the month for your chance to win a reading, and have a little bit of cash (starting as low as £5 for stories below 5oo words), you can have your work made into a professional podcast straight away, without the tiny promo at the end. In a month or two I may have a slot free to work on an audio book for someone but not yet.

If you’re looking for a great surprise present for a writer friend then this might fit the bill too. If they have published their story online all you’ll need to do is send me the URL of the story with the form on the voice services page and we’ll take it from there. Of course, all rights remain with the writer, I see this kind of paid voice work as akin to a professional framer’s relationship with the artist. Just because the framer presents the work, doesn’t mean he/she gets the rights to it!

Anyway, congratulations again to Katherine – I thoroughly enjoyed recording this flash. If only I really did have that wand…
